Stewart Middlemas is a local artist, originally from Newcastle upon Tyne. As a keen mackerel fisherman, he favours the timeless quality of old Cornish fishing harbours as his main subject matter, often as much remembered as observed. After a career as a lithographic planner, both in the UK and South Africa, he took up painting professionally when he moved to St Ives in 1986. The Roundhouse usually has a few of his original works for sale, as well  a larger selectionof his reproductions.
