Hermione Dunn is a former jazz singer with a background in interior design, hand-printed fabrics and artefact restoration. Having fallen in love with the fluidity and luminosity of silk, she has moved away from the rigidity of printing and is now working by hand painting with dyes and resist materials. Despite the very disciplined approach dictated by the medium, her work is organic, evolving with the life of her subject and with her sensitive interaction with the materials. Her work illustrates a continuing fascination with the form, movement and colours of fish which began with a Cornish childhood spent in boats. Hermione Dunn has had work at the Round House since the inception of the Capstan Gallery.
