| The Ceramics Gallery page is designed to give you a taste of the works available from some of our ceramics artists. It would be impossible for us to show all the work that each artist displays at the Round House. We hope this provides you with a flavour.... |

Adrian Brough was born in 1962 in Brixham, Devon. He went on to study at Camborne Technical College and was awarded a diploma, (distinction), in ceramics. His first major commission was for SWEB where he created three giant mural`s for their new Head Office in Cornwall. Adrian then went on to work with his Father, The Newlyn Potter, Alan Brough. The Newlyn pottery was a small scale but intensive production based business which taught the basic disciplines of the industry whilst still allowing for the creativity for individual works to stand out. Adrian now works from his custom built studio in Lelant, South West Cornwall in the grounds of the family residence that has been the home and inspiration for two generations of the Brough family. The West Penwith maritime enviroment has inspired the works both in form and pattern. Major influences being Portugese slip ware and the beautiful simplicity of Chinese and Korean craft.

Born in South Africa, Roelof ran a successful studio in Cape Town selling his distinctive hire fired decorative stoneware to shops and galleries. He also served on the Board of the Western Cape Association of Potters. In 1998 he left Cape Town to gain new experiences in England. A short visit to St Ives, Cornwall introduced him to a local potter, John Bedding, who offered him a workshop in the newly renovated "Gaolyard Studios". It is from these studios that Roelof now creates high quality thrown ware. Each piece is individually decorated with a wide range of designs, which reveal a wealth of influences and inspiration - from the native art of Africa to European movements such as Art Nouveau. Roelof currently makes platters, bowls, lidded jars and vessels in a variety of sizes. He has a permanant display at the Round House. |
