The Round House and Capstan Gallery is situated in the heart of Sennen Cove, Cornwall.

A BIT OF HISTORY.....
The Capstan Gallery houses the huge capstan that was used to haul the fishing boats up the beach at this scenic harbour.

The capstan used to be in the open and probably came from one of the local mines which sold them off when they mechanised. The building was erected in 1876.

Until recently the space had been used as a cellar, however you can now see examples of Cornish Work hanging on the curved walls, ceramics on the glass overlay which allows you to see all the details of this massive piece of man-powered machinery and carvings of birds and fish dot the floor.

The 1st Floor, now The Round House, was added so as to allow the Fishermen to dry and mend their nets. Much of the original structure can still be seen.

The Round House exhibits paintings, photography, ceramics, jewellery and an abundance of unique, interesting work from all over Cornwall.
